Keeping Bedfordshire safe |
||
#TogetherforBedfordshire | Policing in Bedfordshire is certainly never dull and many of our officers have to deal with a wide range of crime and challenges across our busy towns. But we also a have a large rural community with a different set of challenges and this time of year is exceptionally busy for the @BedsRuralCrimeActionTeam as hare coursing increases. The last month has seen the team seize four dogs and a number of vehicles as they work with partners and local residents to keep communities safe from coursing and the criminality that comes with it. We know that the use of illegal e-scooters is a concern in our town centres. On Thursday our @bedfordcommunitypolicingteam seized three scooters for no insurance in an hour. They will all now be destroyed. We'll be sharing more about our efforts to tackle illegal e-scooters in the coming weeks. In Luton our @LutonCommunityPolicingTeam carried out a proactive day of action in Bury Park and Dallow. The team made arrests, issued Community Protection Notices, gathered intelligence and, of course, engaged with the public explaining what we’re doing and building trust with local communities. The @dunstableandhoughtonregispolicing team are regularly out and about in the town centre working to deter shop theft. There’s a Shopwatch scheme we are part of, where shop owners work together with us and shop centre managers, to keep fighting the problem. One of the issues discovered by our @leightonbuzzardpolicing team on a walkabout with the Mayor and @BedsPCC this week was that people are not reporting issues for fear of being considered a “grass”. We couldn't disagree more. Reporting your concerns means we can deal with crime head on, stopping those causing misery to our communities. Don’t forget you can report anonymously at Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and information we receive from the community really helps the way we deploy resources and tackle crime. You can also report directly to us here: https://www.beds.police.uk/ro/report or call 101.
